Managing Read Receipts
How to toggle message delivery indicators and understand our reciprocal privacy model.
Read receipts provide visual indicators within your active chat threads to show exactly when a message has been opened and read by the recipient. UTurn allows you to disable this feature if you prefer to keep your interaction timing private.
To modify this configuration, select the Settings tab from your bottom navigation bar, tap Privacy, and locate the Read Receipts section.
Toggling Message Indicators
The read receipt setting functions as a straightforward global switch that you can adjust at any time.
- Locate the Read Receipts toggle button on the Privacy screen.
- Adjust the switch to your preferred posture:
- Yes: Enable read indicators for your outgoing and incoming message streams.
- No: Disable read indicators across all communication channels.
The Reciprocal Privacy Model
To maintain absolute fairness and balance across the network, UTurn operates on a strict reciprocal privacy rule for delivery metrics.
If you configure your settings to stop transmitting read receipts, your status will remain hidden from others, but you will also lose the ability to see read receipts from any other users you message. Turning the switch off completely deactivates the delivery confirmation tracking loop for both ends of your conversations.
