Message Delivery Status
What the status icons on your message bubbles mean, from sending to read.
When you send a message on UTurn, a small status indicator icon appears right on your message bubble. This indicator tells you exactly what stage your message is in—from the moment it leaves your phone to the moment your contact opens it.
Message Status Meanings
- Processing: The app is preparing the message on your phone. This usually happens in the blink of an eye.
- Sending: Your message is currently traveling from your phone to UTurn’s servers. If your cell signal or Wi-Fi drops temporarily, the app will keep retrying automatically in the background until it gets through.
- Sent: Your message has successfully reached UTurn’s servers. It is now waiting in line to be dropped off to your contact.
- Delivered: The message has arrived on your contact’s phone. It is sitting in their app, ready for them to open.
- Read (Seen): Your contact has opened the chat and viewed your message.
Note on Read Receipts: The “Read” status will only appear if both you and your contact have Read Receipts turned on in your settings. If either person turns them off, messages will stop at the “Delivered” status.
Handling Failed Messages
- Failed: The app was unable to send the message after multiple attempts, and it will stop trying automatically. This usually happens if you completely lose internet connection for an extended period during the sending stage.
- What to do: If a message fails, simply tap the message bubble to try sending it again manually once your connection returns.
