Starting a New Chat

How to start a private conversation using someone's UTurn Number.

Starting a conversation on UTurn is direct and straightforward. You do not need to send friend requests, exchange contact permissions, or wait for anyone to approve a follow request. If you have another person’s UTurn Number, you can open a chat window and message them inside the app immediately.

How to Start a Chat

  1. Go to the Chats tab.
  2. Tap the Plus (+) button at the top of the screen (right next to the main title).
  3. Tap New Chat from the little menu that pops up.
  4. Type or paste the user’s 11-digit UTurn Number into the box.
  5. Tap the Start Chat button right underneath the number.

Privacy Notification

The moment you start a chat, you will see a notice at the top of the screen letting you know the chat is end-to-end encrypted.

This simply means your conversation is completely private. Only you and the person you are messaging can read the texts—not even UTurn can see what you write.
